About us

Water market intelligence, built by people who have sat on the trading side.

VETRA Index was formed by a team that has spent its careers inside water markets — on irrigation desks, in commodities data rooms and alongside the agencies that publish the raw numbers. We built the service we always wanted: one reconciled view of water availability across Asia-Pacific, with the market response kept in its proper place.

The firm

A long view of water

Water markets reward patience. Our team's experience stretches across drought cycles, reform programs and regime changes in the Murray-Darling Basin and beyond — the same perspective we bring to every dataset we normalise.

VETRA Index is privately held, funded by its founders and a small group of long-term backers who share that view. We answer to subscribers, not to advertisers or exchanges.

Availability before prices

Storage, inflows and allocations come first. Prices and trades matter as the market's response to physical water, never the other way around.

One reconciled layer

Every authority reports differently. We normalise the raw releases into a single consistent view so figures can be compared across basins and borders.

Independent, always

We hold no water entitlements and take no positions. Our only interest is the quality of the information our subscribers act on.
